White Teas
White tea is similar to green tea, in that it's undergone very little processing and no fermentation. The leaves are picked and harvested before they open and when the buds are still covered by a fine white hair, hence, the name!

Before brewing, this rare, entirely handmade tea has the colour spectrum of autumn leaves. The delicate reflective liquor is reminiscent of white gold with a gentle sparkle.

The tea is harvested from the Makaibari tea estate in India, one of only a few owner-managed estates still in existence. The Biodynamic and Fairtrade credentials of this company gives a double guarantee that their teas are produced in the best and fairest ways possible. The making of this quite remarkable infusion, starts with the plucking of young shoots from specially selected tea bushes. Once the buds and accompanying tiny leaves are gathered, they are lightly steamed. Finally the tea is dried under a gentle heat to produce this magical White Leaf tea. There are only a few times during the year when conditions are perfect to make this special tea, and a skill that comes from years of experience. No artificial inputs are used at any point during farming or production. The entire system emphasises environmental responsibility.

White tea is coveted for its high antioxidant qualities and has been used in a number of cosmetics and anti-aging preparations. Because of its low levels of caffeine and subtle characteristics, it is the perfect drink at any time of the day.
